Junot Diaz: The Complexity of Abuse, Accountability, and Amends

I wish I could say I was surprised when my twitter timeline started being flooded with the accusations of Junot Diaz’ history of abusing women. I wish I could say I was shocked, or saddened or appalled.

I wasn’t because when I read his essay in the New Yorker, The Legacy of Childhood Trauma, I had a knot in my stomach. It was a complicated feeling that I held because I was aching for him and the horrors he endured.
